Kiteboarding at Altona Beach 13th Feb 2011
I’ve been a bit slack with the photos lately. Two main reasons.
Firstly I’ve really been only taking photos at family events throughout January, having a bit of a break after my Project 52 of last year.
Secondly I’ve been playing around with film. Grabbed my Dad’s old Pentax ME Super, bought some B&W film to put in it (Ilford Delta 400 and Kodak Tri-X 400) and play around. Now that each shot is costing me money, I’m being a bit more careful in my shots, as such, I haven’t finished my first roll yet. It’s coming, I’ve got about 10 more shots to go, then with any luck, some will show up here.
So to get back out and taking some digital photos, I headed to the beach on Sunday afternoon to get some photos of the kiteboarders. Light winds told me that there’d probably be a few there.
So after I’ve snapped off a few shots, I get chatting to a guy named Steve who I find out runs Fluid Kiteboarding and wants a copy of the photos. I gladly oblige and have been in contact with him since, so I can head back down and get some more shots.
Unfortunately for me (and the kiteboarders out there), it wasn’t quite windy enough to get some big air shots, but I did get quite a few shots anyway. The best are up in an album
Here’s a couple of my favourites, but make sure to check out the album itself to see more.
I love the separation on this one between the kiteboarder and the jetty behind.

Sam your photography is looking great! Love your action shots.
PS That guy with the jetty in the background (which is really pretty) looks like a Baywatch-Ken-doll-hero.
